Private Vow Exchange: Dead Horse Point State Park

The day began with family portraits and a private vow exchange at Dead Horse Point State Park. It was a simple way to start – just time together before heading out. The overlook gave them space to slow down and be present, without feeling rushed or watched. Vows were shared quietly, setting an easy tone for the rest of the day. I left them out of this blog post for the sake of the privacy of my couple :)
Rain had moved through Moab for several days leading up to the elopement, changing the feel of the landscape. By the time we arrived at Moonflower Canyon, the weather had cleared enough to make the ceremony possible. The canyon felt fresh from the rain. Globe mallows lined the trail, and the cottonwoods were full and green. There was no one else around, which made the space feel even more open and calm.
After the ceremony, we walked up to a higher point where the Colorado River came into view below. It felt natural and unforced, shaped by the place rather than a plan. Elopements like this work well in Moab – simple, quiet, and focused on being there rather than doing too much.
