Some couples just know—a traditional wedding isn’t for them.
If you’re thinking about getting married in Moab, you probably feel the same pull they did: toward wide open spaces, quiet moments, and a day that actually feels like you.
For these two, the Pinyon Trail at Sand Flats offered everything they wanted: a peaceful trail surrounded by red rock, pinyon pines, and endless views of the La Sal Mountains. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t ask much from you—but gives everything back.

They chose a spring afternoon to elope—just the two of them and their closest friends and family and their pups – no crowd, no rush. We started on the trail early in the day while the sun was still high. The air felt crisp but warming, the light bouncing off sandstone in soft golds and reds. The only sounds were the crunch of their boots and the wind moving gently through the trees.
As we walked, they paused often to just soak it in. One of the best things about getting married in Moab—especially in a spot like this—is how unhurried it all feels. No one is telling you what to do next. You get to be fully present, right in the middle of it.
They exchanged vows on a quiet overlook with a panoramic view—no decorations, no seating chart, just nature doing what it does best. It was heartfelt and raw, full of emotion, and maybe one of the most meaningful ceremonies I’ve witnessed. You don’t need a big production when the connection is already that strong.

Afterward, they shared a bottle of champagne under the sun. It was relaxed and real, like the rest of the day. No stress, no timeline. Just two people starting their marriage in a way that felt completely personal and grounded.
When couples ask what it’s like getting married in Moab, I think of moments like this: barefoot on sandstone, surrounded by beauty, saying “yes” in the most intentional way. There’s room here for silence. For slowness. For joy that isn’t rushed.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that reflects who you are—and not what a wedding is supposed to look like—Moab might just be the place where it all comes together.
Let your story start somewhere honest. Somewhere wild.
Let it start here.
