Choose Your Location and Time of Year
The most important thing you need to know is when to plan your Grand County High School senior portraits. Your location is heavily going to influence this. Any Moab local is going to know you probably don’t want to spend a day at Arches National Park in the middle of July. If summer is the only time that works for your schedule, and you are committed to the National Parks, I would suggest booking your session at sunrise. If vibrant fall foliage is more your speed, the La Sal Mountains will be your best bet. Just chat with your photographer about where you want to shoot, and they can help you work out the rest.
Plan Your Outfits
Next comes outfits. It’s never a bad plan to have several options. If you played Grand County High School sports throughout high school, be sure to bring along the uniforms as well. Think about your location and decide how to coordinate the colors. Bring options that make you feel both confident and comfortable. And don’t be afraid to mix it up. Accessorize each outfit and bring both casual and dressy options!
Gather Your Props
Think about all your interests throughout high school, and bring along the tools that made them happen. This is going to include sports equipment, musical instruments, varsity jackets, skateboards, and even your car. And yes, your pet can count here, too!
Get Hair, Makeup, and Nails Done For Your Grand County High School Photos
I would highly suggest booking your hair ahead of time but don’t use this as a chance to switch things up. Trust me, years from now, you are not going to want to have permanent memories of that time you temporarily thought you were going to be a bangs person. Also, I know you have your makeup routine down, but I would still stick to someone who knows how to do photography makeup. Lastly, don’t neglect your nails! A fresh manicure can be your greatest accessory!
Relax and Have Fun
Above all else, just have fun. If you feel stiff and awkward, it is going to show. Sometimes, clients even bring along their besties to help them feel a little more relaxed. It also helps to get to know your photographer ahead of time. You need someone who will keep it light and help you feel at ease.
