When you are planning your Moab adventure, you need to make sure there is something in the itinerary for every member of the family. Whether you are stopping by for a vacation or are planning your wedding alongside the red rocks, it’s important to find ways to let the younger kids explore. As a Moab elopement and family photographer, I have a knack for helping people find the very best way to spend their time in the area. Plan The Perfect Adventure With These Incredible Things To Do In Moab With Kids
Hiking in the Parks
The National Parks in the Moab area might look pretty treacherous. But trust me, there are so many Moab hikes that even younger kids and explorers can try. Both Canyonlands and Arches have paths your child will be able to conquer. Just be sure to pack plenty of water and keep an eye on those temps since it can get pretty hot throughout the summer.
Become a Junior Ranger
One of my favorite things the National Parks does is offer Junior Ranger programs for kids in Moab. These are super easy to complete while also giving your child plenty of ways to stay entertained. To start, you can either download a Junior Ranger booklet or pick one up at the Arches or Canyonlands visitor center. From there, your child will complete at least five activities while in the park. You can then turn it in so your child can get a Junior Ranger badge.
Mountain Biking or Off-Roading
If your child has a need for speed, you can take them mountain biking on some of the smaller slopes around Dead Horse Point State Park. This trip can be as long or as short as you need it to be for your child. If you would prefer something with four wheels (and seatbelts!), you can head over to the Hummer Safari where you can take a tour of the area in a thrilling way!
River Rafting
Moab has river rafting trips that you can book out on the Colorado River with kids. This option is available for children ages 4 and up. The river is pretty tame so you don’t have to worry about all the bumps and rapids you might experience with other rivers. You can also choose to ride the river and find somewhere to camp for a day.
Star Gazing
There is absolutely nothing that can prepare you for the gorgeous views of the Moab night sky. With no noise pollution, the skies get dark, and the stars shine extra bright. You can get a star chart so you can spend some time identifying all the constellations. This is a sight your family isn’t going to forget for a long, long time!

If your kid is a dino fan, you have to make a stop at the Moab Giants! With this Jurassic destination, your child will get the chance to see life-size models of dinosaurs such as t-rexes, stegosauruses, and parasaurolophus. You will have plenty of photo ops for your little adventurer!
