When You Should Elope at Moab BLM & How to Pick Your Date
The first thing you will want to decide is where you plan on having your BLM wedding ceremony in Moab. National Parks, state parks, and National Forests all fall under the umbrella of BLM. If you are choosing someplace a little more remote, you don’t really need to worry about dodging the crowds. If you are choosing a popular space, however (think Canyonlands and the Arches), I would aim for a weekday during the school season. Sunrise weddings will give you fewer crowds and cooler temps. Also, I want to get very familiar with the weather in the area. As a Moab photographer, I usually encourage people to avoid the summer since it gets hot.
Moab BLM Wedding and Elopement Locations
As mentioned earlier, there are several types of BLM locations. Here are a few ideas:
- National Parks: There are 2 National Parks right here in Moab! Both the Arches and Canyonlands make for stunning elopement and wedding locations.Â
- National Forests: These areas are a little less regulated without entrance fees and fewer rangers. You also will get less crowds. You can normally find them along mountain ranges. Moab, in particular, is a part of the Manti-La Sal National Forest!
- State Parks: This is your ideal choice for a nearby area that has cabins for you and all your loved ones. There are fewer restrictions and smaller crowds. One of my personal favorites is Dead Horse Point.
How Much Does a Moab BLM Elopement Cost?
Your cost will be dependent on your location. The very first thing you will need to do is nail down your Moab marriage license. Once you have that, you will need to look into whether or not you will need a permit. National Parks do require a permit, and the costs are dependent on location but are normally below $200. National Forests and state parks will also have their own rules. For all the legal stuff, I would budget $300 just to be safe!
