Plan Your Perfect Adventure At The Needles District Of Canyonlands With These Great Things To Do
Hiking
With hundreds of miles of trails, this park is a hiker’s dream! While you will be able to find challenging trails of all levels around Canyonland, the Needles District tends to be a little easier with shorter trails that remain pretty flat. While you are here, you can check out Native American structures as well as a display cowboy camp. It’s a great way to learn about the history of the area while taking in some pretty amazing views!
Rock Climbing
If you feel like kicking things up a bit, you can try out rock climbing in the Needles District of Canyonlands. The first thing you need to know is that rock climbing is prohibited in The Needles district. This is because the quality of the rock can make it pretty unsafe. If you do feel like trying it out, you can head to the sandstone towers at the Islands in the Sky section.
4-Wheel Driving
The Needles District offers over 50 miles of four-wheel drive roads for you to explore in Canyonlands. In order to preserve the park, they do have a few rules. For starters, you must have a high-clearance, low-range 4WD vehicle and remain on the roads at all times. They don’t allow pets in your vehicle, and they will require a permit. From there, you should be golden!
Backcountry Camping
If you have an extra night in Canyonlands, I highly recommend an evening of Needles District backcountry camping! As you head along the trails, you will find designated campsites where you can spend an evening beneath some of the brightest stars in the nation. Trust me, the show is so good that you’ll have a hard time heading inside once it’s time for bed!
Elopements
The best way to make this trip last? By tying the knot, of course! The Needles offer several spots where you can get married with up to 50 guests. You can schedule your trip up to a year in advance, and you will apply for your permit a month ahead of the date. As you exchange your vows, you will be surrounded by breathtaking views of the surrounding rocks. It’s the perfect spot for the couple who always has a new adventure on their horizon! Just be sure you have a photographer who knows how to capture the splendor of the area while keeping you the star of the show!
