It’s not exactly a secret that kids have a ton of energy. The fact is that they were born to be natural explorers. They are at their best when they are free to plan their own adventures. You just need the right place so they have an outlet the next time they’re starting to feel a little stir-crazy! Moab has tons of fabulous outdoor destinations, and our parks are full of activities kids of all ages will adore. As a Moab family photographer, I get the chance to bond with parents and chat about the best local places. Here are the Moab playgrounds I now always recommend.

Rotary Park

680 S Mill Creek Dr, Moab, Utah 84532

Rotary Park is a picturesque area that has something everybody is going to love! While the park is next to S Mill Creek Road, the grounds have been thoughtfully landscaped with trees separating your family from the concrete. Inside, you will find peaceful walking trails, an amphitheater, and several sports courts. The playground tends to be a hit amongst younger Moab kids. In addition to the play structure, there are musical instruments everywhere, so your child can write their very own tunes. Once your child is done playing around here, you can head over to the creek and let your child splash around in the water. The park is extremely well-shaded, and there are tables where you can enjoy a picnic.

Swanny City Park

400 N. 100 W, Moab, Utah 84532

It always seems like Swanny City Park has something amazing happening! This park is located on over 7 acres and frequently hosts events like concert series and car shows. During the warmer seasons, the park has a pool where your family can go to cool down. Once the temps start to drop, your Moab child is going to love running around the playground, where you can find equipment perfect for all ages. The park has shaded pavilions where you can enjoy lunch in the middle of your afternoon. There’s also a pretty impressive skatepark that teenagers are going to love!

Old City Park

2231 Elk Circle, Moab, Utah 84532

Old City Park is a town favorite for a reason! This park offers a little bit of everything, including a disc golf course, scenic duck ponds, horseshoe pits, and picnic areas. The stage regularly hosts live acts as well as the annual Moab Music Festival. This Moab playground is a little smaller, with slides and a swing set perfect for kids ages 2-8. While I know your child is absolutely going to love running around this area, there will be tons of other options in case they want to break free from the equipment. With over 21 acres of fun, your family is going to have their perfect day!
